The teeth are the most mineralized and resistant human structure, are responsible for cutting, hold and grind food.
Each tooth consists of crown (top of the tooth, it is usually the only part. The shape of the crown determines the tooth’s function.), Junctions of the teeth and gums (the part located between the root and the crown. ) and root (which is responsible for attachment of the tooth to the bone is approximately two thirds the size of the tooth).

Toothache

Dental pain is a symptom of inflammation or dental infections that can be caused by various causes such as caries (dental tissues localized destruction caused by bacteria), abscesses (pus accumulation in a tissue located), periodontitis (inflammation and infection ligaments and bones that support the teeth), breaking, neuralgia (nerve irritation that supply the tooth, caused mainly by grinding or friction) and abrasion injuries (repeated friction persistently).

Tooth eruption

The first baby tooth appears by 6 months of age and up to 3 years, the milk teeth (deciduous teeth) is complete, a total of 20 teeth, 10 in the mandible and 10 in the maxilla.
When the child reaches six years, the first permanent tooth and the first molar appears (this does not replace any tooth and comes on the back of the existing). After this change, the baby teeth begin to be replaced by permanent teeth. The second molar appears for about 12 years and the third molar (wisdom tooth) may or may not arise (depends on the genetic evolution) however, the eruption occurs only when one enters adulthood (from age 18) . The permanent dentition consists of 32 teeth, 16 in the upper jaw and 16 in the lower (for each arch: 4 incisors, 2 canines, four premolars and 6 molars).

Treatment

The person suffering from toothache should consult a qualified health professional (dentist) as soon as possible.

Self-treatment of SOS
Rinse your mouth with warm salt water or dental elixir.
When pain is caused by accumulated waste food or trapped between the gums and teeth, can be removed carefully with a string (not with a toothpick!).
In case of infection, the hot water should be replaced by cold water in the cheek pads (outside).
Clove oil is recommended as analgesic gums. The oil should moisten the cotton that will be applied directly on the tooth or the painful area.
The camomile water (cold tea) is soothing and must be applied with a gauze to relieve pain.

Oral health is dependent on the genetic and personal hygiene. The teeth should be brushed at least 2 minutes with soft, short strokes, with special attention to the gingival margin to the posterior teeth, difficult to reach and to areas located around fillings and crowns.
