Spring is here .. or are allergies?

Allergies are reactions (responses) of the immune system to substances (elements, for example: pollen, insect venom (bee sting), dust, animal dander, chemical products such as detergents) from the outside world that, in reality, are harmless.

In the spring there is a greater tendency to allergies because it is the season of theyear in which there is a greater concentration of pollen-grain set produced by theflowers of Angiosperms, means that they are the male reproductive elements.

Allergy is the most common disease of the population, studies indicate that one inevery three people and one out of every three children suffer from any allergies. The probability of developing any type of allergy is hereditary but not inherit specificallergens (e.g.: allergy to tobacco smoke is not hereditary).

Allergic rhinitis -acute or chronic inflammation and irritation of the mucosa that linesthe nose internally- must be evaluated by a healthcare professional (doctor ornaturopath) to ascertain the seriousness of allergies and its causes (viruses, bacteria, reaction to allergens – dust , pollen, etc.).

Treatment of allergic rhinitis in adults

Nettle (Urtica dioica): antihistamine and anti-inflammatory. The usually recommended dose for an adult is 300 µ g (0.3 mg) four times a day, however, the dosage prescribed by the doctor is preferable because it will adjust itself to a number of factors that vary from person to person.

Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea): drink daily infusion, favors and strengthens the immune system and promotes anti-inflammatory activity.

Ephedra (Ephedra sinica): displays anti-inflammatory activity and is effective in the treatment of allergies. The infusion of the plant should be consumed around 3 times per day. The continuous or prolonged use can increase blood pressure and, therefore, speed up the heart rate and interfere with the function of the adrenal gland.

Acupuncture

Has already been proven that acupuncture is as effective as drugs antihistamines, but which also acts on prevention of allergic rhinitis.
